Our mission: To protect the White River ecosystem for the present and
the future use of all by means of community involvement and education.

CELEBRATING THE RIVER

We will be having a second annual celebration of the river to highlight a hidden treasure of Madison County.  We will meet at Edgewater Park on Saturday July 26, 2008 to provide canoes and kayaks at a reduced rate for a short float down the river.  Rentals will be provided by Canoe Country.  Life jackets will be provided or you can bring your own if you wish.  If you see a tire or other debris that doesn't belong in the river, feel free to remove it.  We will see that it is either recycled or disposed of properly.  The rental fee is $10 per canoe or kayak.  (The remainder of the fee is underwritten by the White River Watchers)  Newly designed t-shirts will be available.  For those that help clean the river, the t-shirts will be free.  For those that don't choose to clean up, the t-shirts will be $5.     Future celebrations depend on continuing success of the current celebration(s) and generous donations.

Our next clean-up is Saturday September 13, 2008!!!

This clean-up will be a part of a much larger effort involving at least 14 different organized clean-ups along the White River as it runs through central Indiana.  The organizations are Partnering to Protect the White River.  This effort is being organized by the Upper White River Watershed Alliance (UWRWA).  ( http://www.whiteriveralliance.org/ ).  This means there are many more opportunities to participate as a volunteer or join in with with your own group.  The UWRWA  person to contact is Jill Hoffmann at jhoffmann@empowerresults.com or 317-891-8820.

Our next regular meeting is

at the Anderson Library.

The meeting begins at 6PM.  This is a public meeting open to all who wish to attend.
