MINUTES

January 22, 2008

White River Watchers welcomed David Downing and Tyson Mathews among the Ball State Students attending the meeting.  Introductions were made. 

Minutes:  The minutes for the meeting of September 17, 2007 were approved.  The secretary was absent from the meetings in October and November.  No minutes for those meetings were written for approval. 

Treasurer’s report:  The current balance is $17,934.03.  The proposed budget was reviewed.  A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve the treasurer’s report.

River clean-ups:

      June 14^th was selected for the spring clean-up and September 13^th was selected for the fall clean-up.

      If the June clean-up is rained out, it will be rescheduled as a mini-clean-up.

Earth Day:  Sheryl proposed an early morning clean-up with high school students.

River Celebration: 

      It was decided to have a river celebration in July. 

      The date and location was discussed.  July 26^th was set as a tentative date with Edgewater Park as the tentative location. 

      Sheryl, Crist Bill and Ginny volunteered to be on the festival committee.  Bill will chair the committee.

      We should try to get the Anderson Stage and have some music. 

Ball State Students:

      The students discussed their role in helping the White River Watchers communicate its message/mission.

      The students will put forth a proposal on how the WRW can educate the public.  This is part of a marketing class.

      The students agreed we need a new generation of caretakers.

T-Shirts:  Kim will take over the ordering of t-shirts.

There was discussion about the west trail.  There is uncertainty about the new mayor’s administration. 

The library will be available for the next meeting on Feb. 18, 2008.

A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.  We look forward to hearing from the students working with our group.
